
Lisa Ziemelis, MT-BC, NMT, is a self-employed music therapist in the greater Muskegon area.
Lisa received her bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Western Michigan University in 2011. She has also completed additional training with Colorado State University to become a certified Neurologic Music Therapist. Lisa is a member of Michigan Music Therapists and the American Music Therapy Association.
Lisa began working in the field of music therapy in 2012 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. She also provided music therapy services at the MSU Community Music School where her focus was working with children and hospice patients. Currently, Lisa teaches private piano and clarinet lessons out of her home. She also works as a rehearsal pianist for the Hope College Department of Dance and often plays piano for weddings and other special events.
Self-employment is Lisa's newest music therapy venture. She created SoundWaves Music Therapy in the fall of 2014 and has been steadily growing the business since. She contracts with several organizations and individuals in the Muskegon area.
Lisa is married and has two cats that graciously allow her and her husband to live with them. Some of her favorite pastimes include spending the day at the beach, going for long walks, and campfires with friends and family.
